Best Cover Ever...

Sometimes I interpret music covers and film remakes as "stealing" or as inefficiency to create. But there are also so many good covers and remakes which make me rethink my interpretation. One of these is the group that I newly discovered: Easy Star All-Stars. They made a Reggae - Dub cover of the Pink Floyd album Dark Side of the Moon. The Album is called "Dub Side of the Moon" and the cover of the Pink Floyd classic "Money" came out really successful. Amazing song. Enjoy the song synchronized with the Wizard of Oz:

Note: Actually the Pink Floyd song Money was synchronized with Wizard of Oz. So thats why they made a version for the All Stars cover. You can see for yourselves if it really synchronizes:

Ska ska ska!!!!

For those of you who like ska, here is a cool picture I found. Well actually I didnt find it but a friend of me showed it to me. It showes the actual Roots of ska, reggae and punk music.

Notice at the bottom where the Skatalites are! Skatalites is one of those groups that I wrote about before! Anyway I think they are great and I wish I get to see them before whole group dissappears! :(
Here is a video of them performing the song called Latin Goes Ska. Oh and here is another video of a guy playing the song "Man in the Street" from Don Drummond (was the most busy composer of Skatalites and was an influential figure in the Ska-music world) with 3 different instruments.

D'OH!

Today I almost died while I was watching "The Simpsons". The Episode was called "The Co-Dependents Day" (Episode 15, Season 15)

Homer was on the telephone talking to this guy and then you hear Homer saying: "You cant put me on hold! I'll put you on hold" and then he starts singing "Wichita Lineman" by Jhonny Cash:

"I am a lineman for the county" -Your call is important to us please continue to hold- "And I drive the main road" - There are "8" calls ahaed of you-
"And the wichita lineman Is still on the la-la-lala lalalala liiiineee"

I started laughing so hard that I almost choked to death on the clementines that I was eating!! ( I usually watch the Simpsons while I am eating lunch or supper and the following desert)

^_^ --> `_´

What really pisses me off is to discover a group, really like it and then discover that they had performed a couple of weeks ago at a club in my city! (--> Mogwai)
What pisses me more off is to know about a grup, but then not go to their concert because of not being a big fan or not knowing most of their songs and then after a couple of weeks somehow finding out that the group is actually very cool and that I just missed a great concert!!!! (--> Nouvelle Vague)

A new page

Guess what? Its 3 a.m. again and I am paying my usual visit to my blog just to check on the comments and maybe drop some thoughts and feelings on a new post. A new empty page waiting in front of me, waiting to be filled, waiting to be shaped in my hands. Leaving another year behind with a lot of memories, a new page is opened in everybody's life again. A new year: getting to know more people, ups and downs, achievments, interesting happenings, new inventions, wars...Like this new page, life will be shaped in our hands...

For the first time in my life I wasnt home for the new years eve. Some people might say thats not a big deal. I agree with that in a way I mean it is just any other day. But I also cant help thinking about this day as a day of a change. Its like a new beginning. And I experienced this change, this new beginning in another country. But my family was here with me so I didnt feel a very big difference. The new years eve was quite interesting though, with all the germans shooting thousands of firework up into the air and to each other as well! ;)

Right now I am listening to this group that I recently discovered: Kings of Convenience. The song is called: I'd Rather Dance With You. I really liked this song. I also liked the lyrics, just speaking from my own experience, you might get along very well with a person and maybe sit and talk hours with that person. But to be able to dance together, to move to the same rythm, to feel the melody together and move to it together is a great experience and not every pair can achieve that. It is kind of magical...
